Franschhoek Painters for Heritage Homes, Guesthouses and Wine Estates
A whitewashed gable in Franschhoek is part of the view, so the people who paint it carry some responsibility for how the valley looks. The village mixes Cape Dutch and Huguenot-era buildings, lime-washed walls and thatched roofs with newer homes, boutique hotels, restaurants and working wine cellars. Painters in Franschhoek have to respect that character while dealing with summers that are hot and dry and winters that are cold and wet.
NPC has painted for estates in and around the valley, including La Motte, Leopard’s Leap Family Vineyards and Allée Bleue, and we bring the same care to private homes and guesthouses.
Residential painters for Franschhoek’s older and newer homes
Historic buildings often have thick masonry walls that need to breathe. Sealing them under the wrong coating traps moisture, which then pushes the paint off from behind. Before quoting we look at what is already on the wall and agree a compatible, breathable system with the specifying supplier. Where a property falls under heritage guidelines, owners should confirm any colour or material requirements before the job is scheduled.
Newer houses on the village edges have their own issues: large expanses of plaster facing the afternoon sun, timber shutters and pergolas that dry out, and steel gates that rust after a few winters.

- Timber shutters, doors, window frames and pergolas

Commercial painters for Franschhoek hotels, restaurants and cellars
Hospitality businesses cannot close for a month while the building is repainted. We agree a sequence that keeps guest areas presentable, works around bookings and functions, and moves crews from wing to wing. Tasting rooms, cellars and production buildings are planned around harvest and the visitor calendar, and many owners prefer to book the main work for the quieter winter weeks when the weather allows.
Inside, restaurant walls, cellar doors and tasting-room joinery take heavy daily wear, so we suggest scrubbable finishes in high-traffic zones and keep a record of colours and products used. That makes later touch-ups simple, and it means the next repaint matches the first without guesswork.
WHY US?
Some great reasons to choose NPC Painters & Renovators for your next project
Working in the valley
Where water use on a farm or estate is restricted, we can bring our own non-potable water to site for washing down and preparation. The owners of NPC oversee the work personally, and as an approved Plascon, Dulux, Titanium and Optima applicator we can arrange supplier-backed product guarantees when the specification is followed. See the commercial painting service for larger properties, the NPC painting overview for the rest of the Western Cape, or ask about a kitchen or guest-suite upgrade in Franschhoek.
Call 021 981 0864 to arrange a consultant visit in Franschhoek, whether it is a cottage in the village or a full estate. If the work needs to fit around a booking calendar or the harvest, mention it when you call so we can plan dates around it.

HOW IT WORKS
After a prospective client contacts NPC, we will set up an appointment with one of our consultants at a time that is convenient to the client.
The consultant will come out to your premises to conduct a thorough site inspection. This will also give you the opportunity to discuss any pertinent details with him.
A personalised specification and quotation will be drawn up and submitted to the client for their approval. All the specifications will be based on the relevant supplier requirements.
For large projects, we can request the client’s preferred paint supplier to compile a comprehensive specification.
Upon acceptance of the quotation, a proforma invoice will be sent to the client. Among various other details, it will indicate the deposit required before the project start date can be confirmed.
QUALITY CONTROL
For our clients’ peace of mind, NPC can request one of our suppliers or an independent consultant to do a site inspection and compile a site-specific specification that clearly indicates which products are most suitable for the project and the precise preparation procedures that should be followed.
Regular site inspections by the supplier or consultant and the client can then be scheduled at various stages of the project to ensure that all procedures and standards are being adhered to.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Can you paint lime-washed or historic walls in Franschhoek?
We assess the existing finish first, because historic masonry usually needs a coating that lets moisture escape. Covering it with an impermeable paint can cause blistering and flaking. We agree a compatible system with the specifying supplier, and where a building is subject to heritage guidelines, the owner should confirm what is permitted before we start.
Do you paint wine estates and guesthouses in the Franschhoek valley?
Yes. La Motte, Leopard’s Leap Family Vineyards and Allée Bleue are among the estates we have worked for. We schedule hospitality work around bookings, events and the harvest so guests are not disturbed, and keep finished areas clean and presentable while crews move on to the next section.
What happens if the farm has water restrictions during painting?
We can bring our own non-potable water to site for pressure washing and surface preparation, so the job does not draw on the property’s borehole or municipal supply. This is useful on farms and estates with limited water, and it means preparation can continue during seasonal restrictions without cutting corners on cleaning.
